The 28-year-old model has just completed his first movie Rinha which tells the life story of a gambler.
“The movie is set to be released next year,” said Malgioglio, one of 20 finalists in the pageant to be held at Crowne Plaza Riverside Hotel on New Year's Eve.
Malaysia is represented by Adib Othman, 26. The inaugural pageant was held in Singapore last year.
Proceeds from the pageant, jointly organised by Alaric’s Productions Company and Alam Mutiara Sdn Bhd, will go to charity.
Malgioglio – who spoke through an interpreter, Alan Sim, the founder and owner of Mister International – said he liked to be in commercials even though it did not pay as well as a fashion job.
Organiser Alaric Soh said Mr International was not a contest of musclemen as the finalists would be judged on looks, personality and talent.
Mr International 2007 wins S$5,000 (RM11,500) plus other prizes. The first and second runners-up would get S$1,000 (RM2,300) and S$500 (RM1,150).
They would appear at a charity fund-raising fashion show at Sarawak Club on Thursday.
