Ivan returned from Puerto Rico on September 30th after an incredible 10-day visit.
He said that he had the time of his life, and he is very thankful to have met incredible people and enjoyed the tremendous
beauty of the Enchanted Isle. Ivan writes about his Puerto Rican experience in his Mister USA Journal.
During the last day of the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week (Sept. 25th), Ivan walked
the runway - as an exclusive model - wearing two new creations by famous Puerto Rican designer Luis Antonio:
Since he won Mister USA last August, Ivan has been training very hard to compete
for Mister International 2008. He has been doing a lot of cardio exercises to trim down (he has lost half-an-inch around his
upper arms) and he pays close attention to his diet which consists mostly of fresh salads, grilled chicken, sea food, protein drinks and oatmeal (which he eats for snack
all day long). In Puerto Rico, he met many people in the pageant industry who gave him valuable tips in modeling, poise, stage projection,
styling, and communication.
Ivan attended the Los Angeles Fashion Week from October 11 to 15 as a special guest. While
in the City of Angels, Ivan had a photo shoot with the great fitness photographer Martin Ryter. Ivan will grace the cover
of three magazines, one of which will be Men's Health, the British edition! Ivan also auditioned for the next season of
the hit reality show, "The Bachelorette." Way to go, Mister USA!
This week, Ivan will be traveling to Florida to have a fitting for his national costume (we can't
wait to see it!) Ivan will be returning to Boston on November 8th for more intensive preparations. On November 9th,
he will present a talk on HIV and AIDS prevention to benefit a non-profit health center. On November 10th, he has a hairstyling
and grooming appointment with Salon Euphoria, one of the best upscale salons
in Boston; this will be followed by a photo shoot with official Mister USA photographer Becca Bousquet. And on November 11th,
Ivan will be flying to Taiwan to join the other contestants for Mister International! He is very excited about the
competition and he is very confident that he will do very well! I agree!
